ATHENS, Ga. — May 28, 2019 — The first Zaxby’s in Apex, North Carolina is coming in June to 1171 Pine Plaza Drive near Costco. A fan favorite for chicken fingers, wings and salads, the new fast-casual restaurant is the 119th in the state of more than 900 locations across 17 states. Construction started in November 2018 and used local Raleigh contractor Davidson & Jones.

“We are very excited about the opening of our new Apex Zaxby’s,” said licensee Travis Kelley. “Having grown up in Apex and attended Apex High School across the street from this location, it is amazing to witness the growth this area has seen over the past two decades and it’s special to be a part of it.”

With indoor seating for 90 and 16 outdoor patio seats, the 3,800 square-foot location reflects Zaxby’s commitment to providing an exceptional fast-casual dining experience including a redesigned exterior, kitchen and dining area featuring two proprietary Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. Online ordering is available through as well as the Zaxby’s app. Third-party delivery will be offered.

An alternative to fast food, Zaxby’s serves fresh, prepared-at-order, hand-breaded Chicken Fingerz and Wings made in a variety of nine sauces. The menu also features four Zalads and eight sandwiches along with innovative Zappetizers including Tater Chips and Spicy Fried Mushrooms, and Party Platterz for large groups. The first 100 guests at the Apex opening will receive a Fanatic Pack filled with Zaxby’s Deck of 52 Dealz including many menu favorites.

“We look forward to sharing our chicken and sauces with Apex in a variety of savory and sweet combinations,” Kelley said. “We are still hiring driven, dedicated team members and offer opportunities for growth and flexible scheduling at our location.”

This restaurant will provide about 45 jobs in the Apex community. Those interested in applying for a position may visit and enter keywords “Apex” and “Zaxby’s.”

Kelley opened his first Zaxby’s in 2013 in Holly Springs and this will be his fifth. In the future, he plans to open seven more restaurants in the Richmond, Virginia area.
