Chain’s New TV Spots Encourage Guests To Compete In “Prove Your Fanhood” Video Contest
ATHENS, Ga. (Oct. 9, 2013) — Zaxby’s flavor cravers have met their match. Fans of the Southeast chicken chain can enjoy its new “Fan Special” meal — a specialty menu item that celebrates its loyal brand fans. To kick off the Fan Special, Zaxby’s new TV spots, airing this week, encourage guests to participate in its “Prove Your Fanhood” video contest. The contest is a part of Zaxby’s new “Check-In For Chicken” social rewards program that reflects Zaxby’s college football and basketball sponsorship with 28 Division I colleges across the chain’s 13-state footprint.
Zaxby’s new Fan Special meal includes four signature Chicken Fingerz, Crinkle Fries, Texas Toast, Zax Sauce and a Large Beverage, and is available to guests for a limited time.
“We wanted to create a menu item for our guests that celebrates their passion for our chicken,” said Zach McLeroy, CEO and cofounder of Zaxby’s. “From our signature Chicken Fingerz to our popular Zax Sauce, the Fan Special has everything our Zaxby’s flavor cravers love most.”
In a tongue-in-cheek approach, the chain’s newest TV spots highlight the Fan Special and the great lengths that brand flavor cravers will go to in order to prove they are worthy enough to enjoy it. Zaxby’s fans looking to compete in the “Prove Your Fanhood” video contest are encouraged to upload a video through Instagram, YouTube or Vine to prove their fanhood for Zaxby’s. Contestants can submit videos beginning Monday, October 14, and submissions will be voted on by “Check-In For Chicken” participants online beginning November 11. A winner will be selected December 13. “Prove Your Fanhood” video contest submissions will receive 1,500 points in the program, and each participant will receive an additional 100 points for voting daily. The winning video submission will receive 5,000 points, and all participants of the program can redeem points for entries to win fun and exclusive prizes, including free Zaxby’s for a year.
The “Check-In For Chicken” program encourages participants to link their social media accounts — Facebook, Twitter and others — with the brand to receive points for engaging in social activities. Users interact in many ways, including uploading photos, updating their status and inviting friends.
